The Witzenhausen Gallery Art Show
In appreciation of your support of the gallery we would like to invite you to join us for a reception to celebrate the opening of our new and bigger space and to toast on the New Year
“Sometimes I think I should have started ten years ago”, Jacob Witzenhausen says when being asked about his gallery in New York. The best thing about the fact that he didn’t, is that by starting in September 2008, just when the market crashed, we can now say after three successful seasons that he couldn’t have chosen a better moment to start. Witzenhausen Gallery’s fourth season in New York celebrates its success but also new location, from its first suite at the Aperture building in Chelsea, nr. 530, Witzenhausen Gallery is moving to a bigger space on the same floor, nr. 508.
The Witzenhausen Gallery Art Show proudly presents nine of the gallery’s most internationally acclaimed artists: Federico Junca, Harma Heikens, Hendrik Kerstens, Ixone Sádaba, L.J.A.D. Creyghton, Madeleine Berkheimer, Nisian Hughes, Patrick McGrath Muńiz and Roland Schimmel. This selection of artists represents not only Witzenhausen Gallery’s philosophy but also stands for the gallery’s history and gives a glimpse of what the gallery’s next exhibiting artists will be. Past, present and future will be celebrated the coming weeks at the first Dutch gallery to open its doors in New York.
Founded in 1989 by art expert Jacob Witzenhausen, Witzenhausen Gallery is specialized –in the broadest sense of the word- in representing and promoting contemporary, groundbreaking artists on an international level. Our location in the Hazenstraat, Amsterdam is the backdrop for many great works by an amazing scala of contemporary, innovative and upcoming artists. In general one could say that Jacob has a fascination for artists who work in a field where meanings cross, where something interesting starts to happen between the obvious elements. The kind of art that is not what it seems on first sight, when we give it only a quick glance, where the surface does not reveal its secret right immediately and where there is more to contemplat..
